X Games Los Angeles: Preview, Schedule and Farewell

Summer X Games 19 takes its final spin around Los Angeles from August 1-4; beginning in 2014, the summer games' U.S. stop will be moving to Austin, Texas.  LA has hosted the X Games for 11 consecutive summers, and has seen plenty of memorable moments: from 2003, when Ryan Sheckler became the youngest gold medalist ever at age 13, to 2012, where Jamie Bestwick 6-peated in BMX vert.

Garage Storage: Bike Rack, Wakeboard Rack and Ski Rack ($19.99 each)

This picture from Trevor, a fan of ours from Charlotte, North Carolina, is the way we at StoreYourBoard love to see a garage organized: (1) bike hanging from the ceiling, (2) wakeboard racked on the wall, and (3) skis and snowboard racked right next to the wakeboard.  Believe it or not, each of the three racks in this picture is only $19.99...

  1. The ceiling bike rack hoist cannot be any simpler for bike storage - get your bike up and out of the way in your garage (up to 12 feet!) but still easily accessible.  For $19.99...
  2. The wakeboard rack is so minimalist you barely even notice it; all you see is your wakeboard ready for your next glassy session.  Installs in minutes and once again, $19.99.
  3. The ski rack can hold your skis, your poles, and a snowboard on top for good measure (or a skateboard).  All for < $20...

Surf Trip Travel: Disadvantages to Traveling with Surfboards

By Andrew Sachs
The age old question for a surf trip is – should I pack my surfboard or rent one when I get there? It’s an age old question because traveling with your surfboard can be so expensive and such a huge hassle that sometimes it ends up being more trouble than it’s worth.  We've discussed the potential advantages here, so let's take a look at the disadvantages.  If you have a bad experience traveling with your board, it can go bad in a hurry: you may end up with no surfboard, a dinged surfboard, or fees that cost as much as a new surfboard!

Here are the most basic basics of snowboarding, including everything you need to know before you start out.

Hurricane Season in the Atlantic | Surfing Hurricane Waves

By Andrew Sachs
Hurricanes: anyone that lives near the coast has felt first-hand the devastating impact that hurricanes can have on an area.  Flooding, power outages, damage to buildings, trees down, roads washed out, new inlets created and much more destruction results.  It is important to take hurricanes seriously, plan for them, and seek shelter when appropriate.

Learning to Longboard Skateboard | The Hard Way

I grew up spending my summers in Bethany Beach, DE. A perfect little beach town in Sussex County... pretty sleepy in the winter and bustling in the summer. It's also the hometown to some seriously talented surfers, skaters, and all around athletes...These boys and girls can rip. Like my friend Dave.  Dave taught me to longboard many a summer ago. I fell in love instantly and envisioned myself submitting an audition tape for "True Life I want to be a Professional Skater" Remember that show? So good.
