Check out the surfboard art that the 5th grade class at Pierpont Elementary School, of Ventura, California, created to auction off for their school's fundraiser!
Each student in the 5th grade class at Pierpont created a square painting with a surf theme. The paintings were then adhered to a surfboard (donated by
Roberts Surfboards) by a local surf artist. After the students all signed the back of the surfboard, a high gloss finish was applied to the surfboard to preserve the board's new art design. The result is an incredible looking surfboard mosaic!
The surfboard was then auctioned off at Pierpont's annual school fundraiser - a day of old school fun at the beach - with a dunk tank, cake walk, games, music, food, and silent auction. Each class at the school makes something for the live auction, and this 5th grade class created the surfboard. The proceeds of the sale of the surfboard go to support the school's art, music, library and other programs. Awesome!
The lucky purchaser of the specially-created surfboard needed a great way to display it at her house so that the art was on full display at all times. This
clear surfboard rack made a great fit - you can barely see the rack - and you can see all the student's artwork. Together, the rack and the surfboard make a great home decoration, especially knowing the story and cause behind the board.
