Surf Racks for Pickup Trucks

By Andrew Sachs
You need a surfboard rack for your pickup truck.  I've seen way too many trucks riding with surfboards tossed into their bed or leaning up against the tailgate with no protection, bouncing around and getting dinged up.  Maybe some trucks slip a towel under the boards for "protection."  We've got a simple surfboard truck rack for this situation: a support pad fits over your tailgate that you lean your boards on with a strap on top that locks your boards in place so they stay secured in place and protected.

What to Wear Skiing: Dressing Warm, Staying Safe, and Looking Good on the Ski Slopes

Typically we don’t tend to associate skiing gear with looking great.  In order to stay warm enough while you're out on the slopes, and padded enough to protect from inevitable wipeouts, you end up looking like a fluorescent version of the Stay Puft marshmallow man.

But the fact is that when you’re skiing there’s more to looking good than simply knowing how to ski. There are a vast array of styles and looks available if you take the time to browse, from down-filled puffer jackets to layering systems, venting zips and wrist gaiters.  The amount of thought that goes into most ski-wear these days is like that of early space suits.  Instead of looking like you’re fresh out of an 80s music video, think carefully about just what you’re going to be looking like on the slopes, including the colors, textures and cut of your outfits.

Billabong Pro Tahiti: Teahupoo Preview, August 15-26

By Andrew Sachs
The Billabong Pro Tahiti leads off the second half of the WCT season, with 5 of 10 events already completed, and familiar faces at the top of the standings.  Mick Fanning, Kelly Slater, Joel Parkinson - ever heard of 'em?  Of course, these guys have combined to win the last 8 world titles.  Parko's win at the last event, in Bali, jumped him up to third in his quest for a repeat title, but he's still got work to do to catch Mick and Kelly, who are neck and neck at 1 and 2.  Although Kelly has won 2 events and Mick's won none, Mick has been Mr. Consistent, making the quarterfinals in every event.

Summer X Games 19 takes its final spin around Los Angeles from August 1-4; beginning in 2014, the summer games' U.S. stop will be moving to Austin, Texas.  LA has hosted the X Games for 11 consecutive summers, and has seen plenty of memorable moments: from 2003, when Ryan Sheckler became the youngest gold medalist ever at age 13, to 2012, where Jamie Bestwick 6-peated in BMX vert.
