The waiting period for the Volcom Fiji Pro, the WCT's 4th event of the season, begins June 2 and runs through June 14th. The biggest story line from the first three events of the season is the performance of Adriano De Souza and Jordy Smith. Both Adriano and Jordy have won one event apiece and have faced off against each other in the finals and semifinals of the last two competitions, with each surfer winning once. Those two are currently first and second in the overall rankings, ahead of former champions Kelly Slater, Mick Fanning and Joel Parkinson.

Dane Reynolds' Bike Surfboard Rack
Looking for the surfboard bike rack that Dane Reynolds uses to pedal his board to the beach?
Image courtesy of Instagram @ Surfline |
Check it out on our website, the Carver surfboard bike rack. The rack typically mounts to the seat post of your bike. The two rack arms are angled inward to prevent your board from sliding forward or backward during your bike ride. The rack arms are also covered in foam to make sure your board doesn't get dinged from bumps in your ride along the way. And cords extend off the rack arms that go over your board and clip to the rack for additional protection to keep your board safe and secure.

Wakeboarding | A Beginner’s Guide
The butterflies in your stomach, the excitement running
through your veins—pure adrenaline takes over at the thought of getting on a
wakeboard for the first time. Recently,
I was lucky enough to have my first wakeboarding experience…it was
awesome. I haven’t felt a rush of
nerves, excitement and happiness since my “rebellion” riding
on the back of my friend’s motorcycle. However,
I probably wouldn't have enjoyed it as much if I hadn't received a few tips on
the wakeboarding basics.
What you’ll need:
-Wakeboard
-Wakeboarding boots
-Life jacket
-Sun block
-Sun block
-(Ladies, I recommend wearing some
kind of shorts over your bathing suit bottoms if you wear a bikini)

3 Under the Radar Action Sports Movies
Maybe you have seen these sports movies, but I doubt it - they are worth hunting down to watch, or watch again. Nothing like some teenagers just trying to LIVE and not be held down by the man...and their parents.
1. Rad - This is your classic tale of a young and talented BMX biker extraordinaire, Cru Jones. When his small town hosts a pro bike race, (called Helltrack - amazing!), Cru is amped to try to make it with the big boys. Only trouble is Helltrack falls on the same day of SAT's and surprise, surprise, his mom wants him to go to college. Amazing cast - Aunt Becky from Full House is the leading lady...And did I mention there is a choreographed BMX bike dance scene set to "Send Me An Angel"? Something for everyone.

Jordy Smith Wins Billabong Rio Pro Final Over Adriano de Souza
By Andrew Sachs
Jordy Smith claimed the Billabong Rio Pro title after a tough finals matchup against local Brazilian favorite Adriano de Souza in 2-3 foot surf at Barra de Tijuca. Jordy's win was payback against Adriano, who beat Jordy in the semifinals of the last competition at Bell's Beach by just .04 points. The win is Jordy's first ever WCT win on foreign soil after wins at the J-Bay event in his home of South Africa in 2010 and 2011.

Billabong Rio Pro Back On Today After a 5 Day Lay Period
The Billabong Rio Pro is back on again today at Barra da Tijuca! After a 5 day lay period with no waves...it's now a bit gnarly out there - rainy and stormy - but the waves have size and there are some punchy sections. As you can see, Josh Kerr launched a big air off one of those sections.

Spring with the Backwoods Crew | More Fishing, Hunting and Surfing
By Andrew Sachs
When we last caught up with the Backwoods Crew, we wrote about all the good things the guys were doing down on Delmarva, including riding huge waves, reeling in fish after fish and hunting whatever animals were in season. Since that time, they have been up to more of the same and we wanted to give you an update.

Billabong Rio Pro 2013 | Schedule and Preview
By Andrew Sachs
The waiting period for the the Billabong Rio Pro, the WCT's 3rd event of the season, begins May 8th and runs until May 19th in what is looking like a pivotal early season matchup down in South America. Some early story lines are already building in what could be setting up as another Slater-Parko-Mick fight for the title. Of course, Taj Burrow, Adriano de Souza and some young guns have something to say about that.

Surf Trip Souvenirs: Scars and Machetes
By Andrew Sachs
Casino Chips - Puerto Rico. On my first surf trip to Puerto Rico we stayed at the Rincon Surf and Board with a group of guys. Great place to stay with a group, caught some good waves at Domes and Marias and enjoyed the local tacos. One evening we were looking for something to do and we heard about a casino down in Mayaguez, so we packed into two cars and made the trip south. The Mayaguez Resort and Casino was light on the "resort" side of things but had the "casino" part down pretty good. So good that I left with my wallet a lot lighter that night, but did manage to keep a $1 chip off the table. A few years later I ended up staying in Aguadilla on my trip to Puerto Rico. Turns out they built a new hotel and added a casino there, too - the Ocean Casino - which is a modern looking casino and a lot less gritty than the one in Mayaguez. A good night spinning the roulette wheel and I was able to afford a few more rum punches for the rest of my trip.
When most people go on a trip, they like to bring back some sort of souvenir to remember their trip by. Postcards and t-shirts are pretty standard for regular vacations and trips. I try to find something a little more unique to help me remember my trip, and that won't shrink in the wash...here's some of what I've been able to collect over the years:
